Roulette is the third biggest game in the US and the world. There are two versions of Roulette: the European and the American Roulette. Let's focus on the American version. The American double zero increases the house edge.
Roulette payouts are not pot luck or simple jackpot wins, although they vary depending on what was wagered in the first place and where the chip is placed.
Straight bets yield the highest payouts because they have the worst odds of winning. A straight bet is when you pick one number out of all 36 to win. You can choose zero or double zero. The payout is 35 to 1, meaning if you wagered you would get a nice 0 back. It's so high because you obviously have a one in 38 chance of winning. Choose this bet if you have cash to burn.
You can increase your chances but still get a high payout by splitting your bet. This means placing your chip between two numbers on the board. If it lands on either of these numbers you get a 17 to 1 payout. You can take this option even further by using corner bets - yielding an 8 to 1 payout. You can use different combinations for more secure bets.
Perhaps the easiest method the most rewarding is to bet on red or black. However this gives a low payout, which is even to how much you wagered. Say if you bet and win, you get your back with an extra .
Identical to this is the odd and even bet. Simply bet on whether the ball will land on an odd or even number. You don't have to decide the exact number it lands on though.
High bets are between 1 and 18, and low bets are between 19 and 36. A winning bet would simply grant a payout of 1 to 1.
naturally these payouts can alter as you use different combinations at once - but in doing so you decrease your odds of winning at all, and you can quickly burn through your whole bank balance.
The simplest method as outlined above is to bet on odd or even and red or black. Combine this with the Martingale system and you will eventually always be in the positive. It just depends on how big your bank balance is and if it can take a huge losing streak, or adhere to the maximum bet limit whilst taking a loss.
So the bets to avoid are probably all single number bets and the five number bet (only found on double zero wheels) because these types of bets have the largest disparity between true odds and actual payouts.

- Players make bets by placing chips in various locations on the table. The green slots (zero) in roulette are where casinos make their money. Don't be fooled into thinking that any number or color is "due". Roulette translated literally means "small wheel" and is one of the oldest casino games played today. In a casino, the person who spins the wheel is called a croupier. If youre feeling lucky, you can pack in plenty of casino play at a roulette wheel in a short time. In Roulette the bets are placed on an area of the table marked with separate boxes, with each box containing individual numbers. Roulette is a banking game: all bets are placed against the house. Roulette chips have no value at other tables. Inside bets are made by placing chips on the numbers from 1 to 36. An American roulette wheel has an extra slot; 00. The ball falls into one of the wheel's numbered compartments which determines the winning number. The standard American casino roulette wheel contains two green slots: 0 and 00 (many European wheels eliminate the 00, which creates more favorable odds for players) Once the bets are placed on the table, a small ball is released on to the spinning Roulette wheel, in the opposite direction to the spin. Here's another way to look at it: Let's say you bet $10 on every number one bet on each of the 38 spots. To make your money last longer try to find a single 0 wheel, and make only one bet per round regardless of what kind of wheel you find. The ball will lose speed and eventually stop in one of the numbered pockets in the Roulette wheel. Roulette is played on a table featuring a betting area and the roulette wheel. Roulette is a unique table game as it has a mechanical device as the main element of the game. I found out about it when an Atlantic City dealer took only one of my two chips on a losing bet and I had to ask why. If Red has come up 20 times in a row, that doesn't mean Black is more likely to come up on the next spin. Each roulette player is assigned different color of chip, allowing the dealer differentiate bets and match them to the right players. All roulette players place their bets. The roulette wheel consists of slots or pockets numbered from 1 to 36, which are either red or black. When the ball comes to rest in one of the slots, the dealer will call out the winning number and settle all bets. The ball stops in one of the numbered pockets of the Roulette wheel. On both wheels, you may think that there is no rhyme or reason as to how the numbers are arranged, but there is; the numbers are arranged this way so that the odds of landing on high, odd, low or even numbers are evenly distributed. The wheel is divided into 38 (American) or 37 (European) sections, each of which has walls to hold a small ball where it lands after the wheel is spun. This game has a house edge of 2.6% instead of 5.3%. Casino players can bet on one, two, three, four or six numbers; or they can choose to bet red or black; high or low; odd or even. If youre feeling lucky, you can pack in plenty of casino play at a roulette wheel in a short time. When you finish beating the house at roulette, you will have to ask the dealer to "color out" for you The dealer will take your chips and give you casino checks which you may then use on other games or cash out at the cashier. Even if you play it safe and bet red/black or even/odd, casino roulette is a lot of fun. You can do this same calculation for the other bets, and it comes out the same. The sections are numbered from 1 to 36, (half red and half black, half odd and half even) plus a green section marked 0. Before you get confused, standard American roulette rules have the table use different chips than other table games at the same casino. Once the ball has found its slot, the dealer will call out the winning number and place a marker on that number's spot on the layout. The wheel has numbered pockets ranging from 0 to 36 - and 00 in American Style Roulette.

In roulette everything depends on chance. The only thing you can do from a strategic point of view is to try to keep the house edge to a minimum. There are special rules in casinos which directly affect on the edge. The 'surrender' option is the first strategy to know. This rule is applied to outside bets such as odd/even, red/black, and high/low. If the balls lands on the 0 or the 00 you only lose half your bet, rather than the whole betting. This affects the house edge considerably; after all it is the 0 and 00 which account for the high house edge in the first place. Of course, the payoffs aren't as great for outside bets, but simply by finding a table with the surrender' rule, you are improving your odds substantially. Rather interesting point is the 0 and 00. It is better that you look for tables with only one 0 - European tables. Primarily found in Europe, these tables offer a much more attractive house edge from the player's point of view. With a European table to play on you are reducing the house edge from 5. 26 percent to 2. 7 percent. Physically European roulette tables are found more often in Europe, but in the online world gambling they are just a click away.
